The most common symptom of sinusitis, and often the most unpleasant, is pain. You have several different sinuses above and below your eyes, and behind your nose. Any of these can hurt when you have a sinus infection.

If you thought your sinuses are in your nose, think again. They are actually air-filled spaces in the skull, which are located in the forehead, medial to the eyes, and in the cheeks.

Please note that if you suffer from sinus for longer than 2 weeks, you should seek advice from either a medial doctor or a chiropractor.

Here are three trigger point tips that you can use for relieving sinus symptoms

  1. Either side of the nostrils

Located just to the side of the nostril, press both sides down at the same time. It will help the sinuses to drain more effectively and is fantastic for relieving pain in behind the cheeks. Use two fingers and press against these points with your fingers at 90 degrees to the face.

  1. Bridge of the nose

To activate this point, press in and upwards. I like to press this point for around 5 minutes, but that might be a little long for some of you. You will notice that this is the point you naturally try to press when you have sinus headaches and sure enough, it plays a big part in relieving pressure behind the eyes.

  1. Just under the cheeks

Located almost directly beneath the cheek bone, this point can be found by tracing the path underneath the cheek until you find a tender point. The point will likely be quite tender when pressing in and upwards again the cheek.

This point is great, as it seems to shift the entire face and lead to a pressure release from all of the sinuses as well at the Eustachian tubes.
