Low back pain

Back pain is one of the most common reasons people visit the doctor, it is also one of the main problems which prompt people to try chiropractic for the first time. In our clinic, about 30% of the new patients arrive complaining of low back pain, i.e. in the lumbar or sacral region of their spine. Another 60% come with disc herniation, 10% have neck pain, headaches or other problems. Research shows that 80% of the population will have an episode of back pain at some period in their life. Sooner or later almost all of us will be troubled with this problem.
Partly because we walk on two limbs rather than four. Normal wear and tear, accidents, illness and bad habits such as overworking and overtraining, as well as poor posture (both seated and standing), and a sedentary lifestyle may all contribute to acute or chronic low back pain.

Chiropractic Vertebral Adjustments: Modern, Medicine-Free Low Back Pain Treatment

In our clinic, chiropractors, draw on their vast experience in the treatment and prevention of spinally related problems, using specific, high velocity vertebral adjustments to correct abnormal spinal function, (sometimes called subluxations).

These areas of dysfunction, if left untreated, interfere with nerve impulses, unbalance internal organ systems and increase muscular tension, which in turn gives us pain. Symptoms may be confined to the lower back or they may be felt in the buttocks, thighs and lower legs. Together with theses chiropractic adjustments, we use techniques to reduce any muscular tension you may be suffering. The aim is to eliminate pain, improve performance, enhance the equilibrium of the musculoskeletal system and ensure long lasting symptom relief.

Vertebral adjustments are not a new technique. Chiropractors have been using developing and perfecting these methods throughout the last century. The chiropractic approach is in line with the latest modern research results and advice from the U.S Agency for Health Care Policy; while treating your back pain we keep you active by having you work and take part in your sport, instead of advising days of bed rest. Naturally, we as chiropractors do not prescribe or use medicines to treat your problems, as this can mask the symptoms and allow or cause you to ignore treating the cause of the pain.
